The so called “easy to relate” means it is easy to talk about the disease. The so called “Hard to enter” means a common man can hardly understand clearly the subtleness of the disease. The so called “the physician of lower level adheres to the outer appearance” means a physician of lower level can only treat according to the routine of pricking. The so called “the physician of advanced level treats according to the essentials of the disease” means a superior physician can perceive the sthenic or asthenic conditions of the patient to determine the treating of invigorating or purging. The so called “spirit and guest” means the co-existence of the healthy energy and the evil energy in the channel. The so called “spirit” means the healthy energy, and “guest” means the evil energy. The so called “by the door” means the evil energy comes in and goes out along with the healthy energy through the striae. The so called “missing the disease” means the physician has no idea where the disease is. The so called “how can the source of the disease be known?” means how can one know to which channel the disease belongs and with which acupoint should the disease be treated.”
　　The so-called “the clue of pricking is in the speed” means it is important to master the fast and slow speed of inserting and drawing the needle. The so called “the physician of lower level sticks to the joint” means a physician of lower level adheres only to the pricking acupoints on the extremities without knowing the abundant or deficient energy condition, the coming and going of the blood and the healthy energy. The so called “a superior physician accords with the mechanism of the disease” means a physician of advanced level knows the general rule of the change of the functional activities of vital energy so that he can invigorate or purge properly by pricking. The so-called “in treating the different conditions of the vital energy, it can not divorce from invigoration and purging” means one must know first the abundance or deficiency of the energy in the acupoint, then can he apply the therapy of invigoration or purging. The so-called “be sure to examine the energy carefully and calmly” means as not to miss the opportunity of invigorating or purging. The so-called “do not oppose diametrically the energy that is coming” means one must not invigorate when the evil energy is overabundant. The so-called “do not pursue the energy that is going” means do not purge when the healthy energy is debilitative. The so-called “one must not make light of the acupuncture feeling” means the feeling of acupuncture after pricking can easily fade away. The so called “fails to shoot out as if the arrow is fastened on the bow string” means when one knows not the meaning of invigorating and purging and prick erroneously, it will cause the energy and blood to become exhausting and the disease will not be cured.”
　　The so called “knowing the coming and the going of the energy” means knowing the adverse and agreeable, deficient and abundant conditions of the energy which is in circulation. The so called “the time of pricking is important” means when one knows the importance of the waiting of energy, he will be able to know the proper time of pricking. The so-called “the ignorance of the physician of lower level” means the physician of lower level is ignorant who knows not the subtle function of the energy’s circulation. The so called “only a superior physician can treat wonderfully” means a superior physician understands thoroughly the way of pricking and the importance of waiting the energy. The so-called “when the energy has gone, it is adverse” means the energy will become debilitative and tiny when the evil energy has faded away, and tiny means adverse. The so-called “ when the energy comes it is agreeable” means when the healthy energy comes gradually, it is harmonious and calm, and harmonious and calm means agreeable. The so-called “when knowing the conditions of agreeable and adverse clearly, one can prick without asking others” means when one understands the agreeable and adverse relation of the energy’s circulation, he can select the proper acupoint without hesitating. The so-called “snatch against it” means prick against the direction of the channel’s circulation and it is the purging therapy. The so called “assist along with it” means to prick in the direction similar with the channel’s circulation, and it is the invigorating therapy.”
　　The so called “substantialized when it is deficient” means apply the invigorating therapy by pricking when the energy of Cunkou (the common position for pulse palpation) is deficient. The so-called “ purge when it is full” means apply purging therapy by pricking when the energy on Cunkou is overabundant. The so-called “eliminate the protracted stagnation” means it should remove the stagnated blood in the collaterals. The so-called “when the evil energy is excessive, empty it” means when the evil energy is abundant in the channel, purging therapy should be applied to let out the evil energy along with the needle. The so-called “to invigorate with the slow and swift pricking” means when applying the invigorating therapy, insert the needle slowly and draw swiftly. The so-called “to purge with the swift and slow pricking” means when applying the purging therapy, insert the needle swiftly and draw slowly. The so called “the sthenia and the asthenia are like being and not being” means the invigorating can cause the retaliating of the healthy energy, and the purging can cause the disappearing of the evil energy. The so called “take note of the pricking order and observe the existing and not existing of the evil energy” means diagnose to know the sthenia and asthenia of the energy to ascertain the order of the invigorating and purging, and examine whether the evil energy has retreated or still retaining. The so called “the sthenia and asthenia can cause gain and loss” means the patient feels fullness as if acquiring something when being invigorated, and feels like losing something when being purged.”
